My First Annie Sloan Project

For Lila's third birthday, she got a new room.  No more crib and changing table for her.  Now, she has a big girl bedroom complete with antique dresser to hold her DVDs and her TV.

When we bought the dresser, this is what it looked like...

A new store recently opened in our area that sells Annie Sloan paint, and I decided to see what all the buzz was about.  A couple weeks later, a few coats of paint and a wax finish, and this is what we have now...

We moved it in the room yesterday and got it all loaded with her DVDs and other toys.  Lila said over-and-over, "Mom, I am so proud of you."

Cute dresser.  Cute room.  Cute girl!

Bye Bye October...

I have started the sad, sad task of putting away the October decor.

In addition to Halloween, October is the month we celebrate the old man's (James') birthday. My favorite of all the decorations I put out this time of year is a picture his youngest cousin drew for him many years ago. She was 7-years-old at the time. She is now a very impressive, completely gorgeous, and hilarious 19-year-old college student. My how time has flown by!!

It is hard to see because of my wretched photography skills and the glass on the frame, but notice she had every member of our family at the time depicted and labeled...even our canine daughters. She was a very thoughtful artist.

Bet you can't figure out which one is me.

Memory Lane

After nearly 5 years I have finally gotten all of my digital pictures organized into one place. They are all neatly organized in the same software instead of being on various places on my computer, CDs, and hard drives.

The fun thing about organizing all these photos is that I have run on to several pics and movies I had forgotten about. Here are just a few...

I call this one "Fwahsting"

Abbie's 2nd birthday. My brother got her this adorable hot pink dress up gear.

And, of course, because her Dad was presents, this happened...

I also ran across this picture. Here, Abbie praying in the hospital chapel when I had Lila. I think it is beautiful.

Lila's Cradle

My Dad made another gorgeous cradle! He made a beautiful one for Abigail, and now it is Lila's turn to have her own custom made treasure!

This one is made of walnut, and every single inch of it was completely handmade by Pops!! I just love it!

My sweet Grandpa gifted us the cradle linens. I just love the unexpected color combination, and it matches our copper and chocolate colored room perfectly!

I can't wait to see her sleeping in her beautiful cradle. I just hope she actually does some of that....you know..... SLEEPING!

Some Progress on the Baby's Room

Sorry for being so long between posts. I've been SOOOO busy with my efforts to get fatter. Between Oreo breaks and countless hours spent on creating ice cream sundaes that have never been attempted before, I just have been terrible about keeping up with a lot of things...blogging is certainly included in that.

We have made some progress in the baby's room. I knew I wanted to do a monogram on her wall like we did in Abigail's room. We finally got that finished last week. Isn't it cute!!

Curtains are almost done. We are just waiting for some more fabric to make the sheers, and then we are done there. I've got to finalize the stuff I'll be hanging on the walls, and then I promise a full nursery post with photos of the whole room! Keep in mind this child may be in college by the time that happens, but I have good intentions.

Well, gotta go... this vanilla cream pie is certainly not going to eat itself.

Would You Look At This!!

These are pics of the roses in my very own backyard!

I wish I could take credit for being the rose whisperer, but the truth is...

God stepped in as Master Gardener because He was sick of watching me slaughter every perfectly healthy plant I've ever put into the ground.

I think they are so pretty!!
